Abstract :
This paper proposes a method to control the total harmonic distortion of voltage (THDV) with a new simulated annealing algorithm. The non-linear relationship between voltage harmonics and the THDV is identified by using the revised group method of data handling (RGMDH) based on the self-organization technique. A new chaotic simulated annealing algorithm (NCSA) is applied to minimize the THDV. The SA algorithm accepts higher energy solutions with probability of min (1, exp (-DeltaE/T)). To evade time wasting exponential calculations, the proposed algorithm introduces a new acceptance criterion that uses a chaotic structure and allows efficient state transitions. Determination of the appropriate neighborhood range is a main concern in SA algorithm. Therefore, in order to search the neighborhood sufficiently and efficiently, a different approach has been taken toward the neighbor selection process combining chaotic maps and Gaussian distribution. The effectiveness of the proposed method is demonstrated by test data.
