Abstract
Epoxy spacers were stressed with DC voltages in 1 bar SF6 , and the effects of using toroids and spacers to alleviate local field intensification at stress points was studied. It was found that electrodes with toroids experienced much denser charge accumulations than those with inserts. The maximal charge density with toroids is ~11 times that with inserts. The mean value of the former reaches 11.5 μC/m2, ~27 times that of the latter. The total field varies a little with inserts, but differs greatly from the designed Laplace fields with toroids
