Abstract
In this paper, the authors will discuss different design issues of antennas for wireless and mobile communication systems. The geometrical configuration of these antennas and other design parameters optimization is discussed in depth. Several examples of antenna designs will be presented to illustrate this study and which cover several mobile and wireless communication technologies: IMT-2000, PCS (1850-1990 MHz), UMTS (1920-2170 MHz), IEEE 802.11j,a, the US-NIi, HIPERLAN2 (5.470 -5.725 GHz) frequency band, and the 5.8 GHz ISM band.
