  • Abstract
In 2010 Shanghai Expo, the "Bamboo Element" becomes the "star" of low-carbon architecture. As an ancient building material, bamboo has been playing an important role in our traditional architectural culture. In modern society, bamboo material is creating a new way of architectural expression by combining with advanced processing methods and designing ideas. This paper analyzes the advantages of bamboo material being used in architecture, and the new practices of bamboo material being applied to the construction space in Shanghai Expo. From the aspects of bamboo character, combination with other materials, and the regional differences, this paper also analyzes some questions worth our concern in terms of the application of bamboo material to architecture design.
