Abstract :
A new diversity antenna is proposed which provides two sets of multiple narrow beams, with each set interleaved with the other set. A system is constructed to measure the received signal strengths (with switched selection combining) and compares the interleaved beam diversity with space diversity. The measurement system finds the signal strengths of the two diversity systems simultaneously. The two diversity antenna systems provide very similar improvement in a Rayleigh multipath fading environment.
