Abstract
The authors outline the systems thinking philosophy associated with the synergistic integration of microelectronics and computer technology with mechanical engineering concepts. Details are presented of a human-computer interface system designed for the automatic control of an autoteller machine. The principle of employing expert system techniques to enhance the intelligent control of the mechanism is also discussed
