Abstract
Many papers have been written about the phenomenon of arc flash, the causes of arc flash, how to fix specific arc flash problems, and how to design arc flash issues out from the beginning. This paper will discuss the overall process of completing an arc flash study and remediation project in a pulp and paper mill. Most plants are not fortunate enough to receive sufficient funding to do the whole study and remediation process all at once. This paper explores how a Midwestern pulp and paper mill worked over several years to get through the process of the study, remediation efforts, and the establishment of an overall Electrical Safety Program.
