Abstract
Modern oil and gas industry is to a large extent a knowledge- and information-industry, and techniques from computer science and informatics can make significant contributions to productivity and environment protection. As oil production from the Norwegian continental shelf diminishes, new technologies can improve the recovery factor from existing fields. The project group IDP-D&C is appointed to answer the need for more sophisticated drilling and completion processes. Focuses are on the integration of offshore and onshore, real-time simulation and optimizing of key work processes, and integrated operation centres of operators and vendors.
