Abstract
The genetic algorithm (GA) is expected to be a new technique for solving optimization problems. However, its standard procedure has not been established yet. In this paper, the engineering work which is necessary to make the GA function effectively as a system optimizing technique has been clarified and a supporting tool has been developed. The merit of this tool is that it allows the GA to be easily applied, to facilitate the trial and error method efficiently and to analyze and evaluate the results obtained in comparison with other techniques. This time, we solved an operation assignment problem by this tool. We propose the functions of this tool and report the results of these problems obtained by GA in this tool
