An exciting source for EMATs base on DDS technology

Abstract :
In order to maximize the efficiency of electric/acoustic transformation, a DDS technology based electrical power source for excitation of EMATs (electric magnetic acoustic transducers) is described. The power source consist of DDS based signal generator, MCU (Micro Controller Unit), power amplifier and impedance match circuit to EMATs. Both the hardware and software of the power source are explained in detail. According to the request of EMAT, the electric power source is designed to have following characteristics: narrow pulses, large peak current, adjustable repetition frequency, pulse frequency, numbers of pulses and excitation time delay, which effectively boosted the whole efficiency of an EMAT detecting system, and facilitated the whole equipment in digital control and operation.
