Abstract :
A Doppler bins elimination algorithm for a global positioning system (GPS) signal acquisition system is proposed. We use a two-step digital down conversion scheme in which an estimated Doppler frequency corresponds with two frequencies in the received signal. The Doppler bins are eliminated to 50% of the conventional scheme. Simulation results showed that the average acquisition time can be reduced to 50% under normal GPS signal condition.
