Abstract :
When trying to reduce the distortion of the mains voltage-caused by rectifier loads with capacitive smoothing (RCS)-either with active or passive filters or with harmonic compensators, two particular effects amongst others are to be observed: the reaction of the rectifier current to the improved shape of the voltage; and the multiple change of the power system impedance during one period. This paper deals with both of these effects.
