Abstract :
The design and development of a Networked Intelligent Controller (NIC) based on embedded system is presented. The developed controller is an intelligent remote unit featuring embedded technology for access control, monitoring and output control. Basically, the controller has data acquisition, computation, transducer and networked communication functions. The device has low power consumption and small size. With Ethernet, control and supervision are accomplished through an industrial local area network. Using a high integrated 32-bit RISC microprocessor combined with serial A/D and D/A converters made the electronic systems compact with high performance. The controller offers the widest range of features and flexibility, with an overall design for reliability, durability and case of installation. Expanded input and output capabilities can be added to maximate its functions. Based on ARM embedded system, the controller can even run operation systems. Such a Networked Intelligent Controller can be used for various applications involved in real-time controls.
