Abstract :
We examine the basic requirements for large scale virtual environments distributed on the Internet: a platform independent description of virtual worlds, support for multi user collaboration, the network infrastructure required to realize these features, and support for partitioned worlds. We show how we address these issues in our current prototype based on VRML (the Virtual Reality Modeling Language)
