Abstract :
Bitrate or format transcoding of digital audio data is extremely important in many different types of applications. Transcoding can be performed via complete decoding and re-encoding, but this entails a very high cost in computing power. In this paper, we propose a transcoding method employing frequency domain signals. This method can dramatically reduce the memory requirement and computing power, that is very suitable for computing and power limited applications, such as multimedia recording and playing in handheld devices
