We investigate methods by which a variable bit rate ATM video service might be efficiently carried over a TDMA based UMTS system. Interference averaging and dynamic channel assignment (DCA) based approaches are compared. The effect on the achievable statistical multiplexing gain of using standard ATM connection admission control procedures is also assessed
