Abstract
Dealing with life threatening situations demands efficiency and effectiveness of operations including optimizing the emergency response time, and utilizing resources and personnel as best appropriate for each incident. In this paper, we look at the efforts of the regional Emergency Medical Department (EMD) of Crete to introduce new technologies for optimizing emergency response, including the computerization of triage protocols and telemedicine.
