Abstract
The present paper proposes a compact representation for the transmission line models based on modal transformation. The distributed parameter TL model present at the majority of the electromagnetic transient programs is taken into account. The proposed model takes advantage of the similarities between nonhomopolar modes and applies complex numbers theory to manipulate the state variables in modal domain. The proposed method is applied to a single-circuit three-phase line represented through the distributed parameter model (EMTP). The resources used promote a reduction of both the number of operations by iteration and the allocation of states, optimizing the procedure and increasing the processing speed of simulation.
