Abstract :
Reverse engineering is an approach for constructing a computer-aided design (CAD) model from a physical part through dimensional measurement. This paper mainly discusses the reconstruction method of triangle model for machine elements based on industrial CT (ICT) slices. Matching degree is adopted to match the material-edges on the matching material-region. By constructing a feature functions with matching degree, a matching material-edge sequence is divided into several edge sequences which respectively constitute an identical surface (plane, cylinder, cone, and sphere). To improve the quality of reconstruction, the geometric parameters of material-edges are calculated repeatedly by intersection with slice plane and recognized surface. Finally, the model is obtained by constructing triangles between two matching material-regions and arbitrary planar polygon with a rapid algorithm.
