Abstract :
A knowledge-based system applied to long term transmission network expansion planning is presented. The knowledge based system performs static planning, generating feasible alternatives for transmission network expansion, over a given time horizon. The system is integrated with numerical load and network flow simulations. The graph theory based network flow program is responsible for finding the best expansion plan. The interface between the numerical programs is managed by the knowledge-based system.
