Abstract :
The chaining based PEGASIS routing protocol, the leader gather data from nodes, aggregate it and further send it to the base station. In such a way, the sensor nodes can abate communication overheads that may be generated if each sensor node sends data to the base station independently. Sensible leader election can drastically improve the lifetime of network. This paper proposes LEF-P, a protocol giving a substantial increase in network lifetime and prolonging the stability period, which is vital for many applications where the feedback (QoS) from the sensor network must be reliable. LEF-P is based on fuzzy logic methodology for election of leader which based on three descriptors-residual energy, proximity to Base Station and weighted density of node. Extensive simulations performed corroborates that depending on network configuration the proposed schemes outperform F-PEGASIS-TC by a significant margin.
