Abstract :
A new signal modulation format used for an intruder sensor showing a very low probability of detection and interception is proposed. The sensor working principle is based on the application of a spread spectrum-frequency hopping technique. The surveillance is done by radiating very low power microwave signals during very short pulses spread randomly over a large bandwidth dramatically reducing the radiated energy. A simulation SW has been developed to study system performance under different conditions. A system demonstrator has been built using low to medium cost component technology
