Abstract
This paper presents the main limiting operational factors of planning wind-diesel hybrid power systems. The Fernando de Noronha Island, the largest wind-diesel system installed in Brazil, is used as study case. The main operational factors analysed in this paper are the voltage level, the diesel operational limits and electrical losses. The main power operation and planning constraints related to wind power integration are analysed and some solutions presented.
