Abstract
In this paper, the development and design of a library of arithmetic components is presented. The library contains different types of adders and multipliers operating in fixed and floating-point arithmetic. The architecture of the modules and other features (word size, number of pipeline stages, etc.) can be selected among a large number of choices. The result is a synthesizable VHDL description that can be mapped to different target technologies, which makes the library elements reusable. The main field of application of this library is DSP applications. The use of this library proposes a new method for designing DSP custom circuits, mainly ASICs and FPGAs
