Abstract
In this paper, we first describe our efforts to design a high-energy THz emitter based on optical rectification in electro-optic crystals. Next, we describe pump-probe experiments in biased photoconductors which are designed to study the role of screening of the applied bias field, resulting from the space charge field induced by separating carriers. Such screening of the applied bias field potentially plays an important role in the observed saturation of terahertz radiation from biased photoconductors
