Abstract :
This paper presents a modeling of disc-type permanent magnet linear synchronous machine by using three-dimensional finite element analysis for system dynamic simulation and drive control design. The proposed machine is specially-designed for electric vehicle application. The self-inductance, mutual inductance, flux linkage and leakage, are difficult to derive by analytic modeling due to their dependencies on the physical structure of machine permanent magnets, changes of winding current densities, and permeability of the system structure. By using finite element analysis, these parameters can be derived in a numerical way. The air-gap fringing and leakage effects as well as electromagnetic interference on the proposed machine can also be developed in a similar way. Simulation and experimental results are used to verify the accuracies of calculated parameters.
