Abstract :
A database of attendant care requirements in an IL (independent living) environment has been established by the Wichita REC (Rehabilitation Engineering Center). This database is composed of a very small sample population per capability level but is considered to provide a basis for further analysis of the funding level required. An analysis of this database is presented with areas of high need for personal assistance per individual identified. It is expected that the results will provide state and federal agencies, as well as the consumer, the information required to predict the funding needed to provide this personal assistance and also provide a basis for determining the cost-effectiveness of the assistive devices available on the market
