Abstract :
In this work, we successfully polished more than eight fibers simultaneously using silicon wafers as our polishing substrates. Extremely sensitive side-polished fibers were demonstrated and their losses were negligible. Liquid crystal fibers polarizers were made and their performances agreed well with liquid-drop measurements. To our knowledge, this was the first time such sensitive fiber components were made and compared well with their liquid-drop measurements. Our flexible designs in polishing curvatures of fibers were attractive to other types of fiber components
