  • Abstract
The power quality problems is obtaining increasing attention, recent research efforts have been made towards utilizing a device called Unified Power Quality Conditioner (UPQC) to solve almost all power quality problems. This paper deals with an optimized Unified Power Quality Conditioner, which aims at the integration of series active and shunt active power filters. The series active filter is a Dynamic Voltage Restorer (DVR), which regulates the voltage at the load end by voltage injection at optimum angle. The phase diagram with voltage fluctuations and phase angle jump is given in the paper. According to instantaneous reactive power theory, the initial phase of the source fundamental phase voltage and phase angle jump are also given. And the optimum voltage injection angle is based on minimum energy compensation strategy. The simulation process and results are offered. A prototype based on TMS320F2812 is designed and the experimental results confirm the proposed method.
