Abstract
It is significant to deploy a mobile sensor network periodically sweeping from the upriver to the downriver to monitor the water quality of the third large river in China. An important problem in this network is how to maximize the dynamic coverage efficiency while maintain the connectivity of network. To solve this problem, we borrow the idea of flocking-birds model in artificial life field and propose a distributed coverage and connectivity control algorithm DC3. The simulation result shows that the dynamic coverage efficiency of this algorithm is significantly better than that of the random mobility model.
