Abstract
Circularly polarized(CP) square microstrip antenna used in Beidou RDSS is proposed and discussed in this paper. Four slits and two truncated corners were cut out from the patch. Via a coaxial probe feeding at an appropriate position, right-hand circularly polarization(RHCP) operation is achieved at 2.492 GHz with a 10 dB impedance bandwidth of about 40 MHz and 3 dB axial bandwidth of about 10 MHz. The prototype has been simulated, manufactured, measured and found to have a dovetailed result to the emulation. With the four inserted slits, the patch size of the antenna has been decreased compared to the conventional corner-truncated square microstrip antenna without slits. The gain of the antenna is about 7.5 dBi across the impedance bandwidth on average.
