    Reviews practical experience in the implementation of the Medical Device Directive, 93/42 EEC, to highlight some of the current difficulties and areas of ambiguity in the interpretation of this complex legislation. The possible impact of the forthcoming In-Vitro Diagnostics Directive are discussed. Industry initiatives to monitor progress are also described
