Abstract
The applicability of using structured lighting for measuring pipe erosion is discussed. Processing the high resolution images on an FPGA significantly reduces the data that is required to be transferred or recorded. The FPGA is able to implement the required image analysis directly on the images as they are streamed from the camera.
