Abstract :
The dependence of pressure on the natural oscillation frequency of millimeter sized nitrogen gas bubbles in water has been examined through systematic experiments. A theoretical expression exists for the frequency with respect to several physical parameters to the bubble; most of them have been tested. In this work the dependence upon surrounding pressure (sea surface to ~4000 kPa) has been measured and compared to the theoretical frequency given by the work of Marcel Minnaert in 1933. The results show a good agreement between the theoretical “Minnaert formula” and measured data.
