Abstract :
Column stores have been widely applied in mass data processing for its great superiority compared to row stores, especially in the field of Online Analytical Processing(OLAP) which requires a significant response speed of query and meanwhile less storage space. Materialization strategies is a very practical query optimization technology used in column stores. In this paper, a detailed introduction to the concept of materialization strategies is made based on the research on storage character and data processing features. And then combining with the Star Schema Benchmark (SSB), two materialization strategies are applied on the complex query of OLAP which shows a remarkable improvement on response speed.
