Abstract :
Aimed at the problem of complex bump workpiece grinding, a new method, the tangent tracing of grinding wheel is presented in this paper. When grinding point on the curve profile of workpiece contacted with grinding wheel, by ensuring the tangent is always in parallel with shaft centerline of grinding wheel, the workpiece is to be grinded finely. Based on analysis of geometrical relations of the motion between workpiece and wheel, the mathematical model of the tangent tracing of grinding wheel is to be built up. Meanwhile, according to the grinding wheel wear in grinding process, continuous model of time and adjustments for motor control on workbench is set up based on the theory of translation and rotation. By using MATLAB software to calculating, the ideal grinding feed curve and pulse scheme of step motor is obtained, and the actual processing curve is gained from the simulation for the actual processing. The ideal results and simulation results show that the system error of scheme is not more than a stepper motor pulse. The experimental results indicate that the realization of tangent tracing of grinding wheel improves machining accuracy of the curve grinding.
