Abstract
Conjugated porphyrin oligomers exhibit extraordinary third-order nonlinear optical properties, such as strong two-photon absorption, non-linear refraction and reverse-saturable absorption, leading to potential applications in areas such as photodynamic therapy, optical data storage, fluorescence imaging, all-optical computing and optical power limiting. This presentation will illustrate how supramolecular self-assembly can be used to control the photophysics of these jr-systems, via supramolecular control of the conformation, through the synthesis of structures such as the double-strand ladder and cyclic octamer nanoring.
