Abstract
Based on culture of Tubifex species, Monopylephorus limosus, frequently found in tap water and pilot study of control, sodium hypochlorite used as common disinfectant was studied for its effects in water on activities of superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT) in Tubifex. It was found that the changes of SOD and CAT activities caused by sodium hypochlorite were identical in general and had relations with the mortalities. But CAT acted a little later than SOD.
