Abstract
The design of magnetic cores to some specific applications can constitute a technological challenge having as requirement the distribution of the flux density. In this paper, a magnetic core with an air gap where the flux density should have a very high uniformity is analyzed. Being the determination of the magnetic field distribution, based on analytical solutions somehow complex, available computational tools (as for instance, some based in the finite element analysis) can provide the required results. In this paper, the generic characterization of the flux density distribution and the fringing effects are characterized and discussed according to the dimensions, characteristics of the magnetic circuit and the requirements of the application. In addition, superconducting pieces are added to the classical structure of the magnetic core. The distribution of the flux density for the magnetic core with and without superconducting pieces is compared and analyzed.
