Abstract :
The automatic estimation of baud rate is an important capability of automatic signal identification and classification systems. Several practical techniques are used for this purpose. The chosen technique is usually optimal in some sense, minimizing the time required for estimation or making the estimate as accurate as possible. In addition, the selected technique should maximize its use of a priori signal information. A mathematical analysis of baud rate estimation is given, and several practical techniques, of varying complexity, for estimating the baud rate of communication signals are described
