Historical photos constitute an important part of architectural heritage documents and achieves. They are also one of the important bases for "authenticity" in the practice and research of architectural heritage conservation. From 1921 to 1929, Tokiwa Daijo has investigated into Chinese cultural relics for five times and has taken many photos. These photos perfectly outlined the cultural relics\´ status of China in the early 20th century together with the commentaries, authors\´ notes and the travel diaries. At the same time, they are also the important evidence of recording Asian countries\´ cultural heritages through advanced photography techniques by the Japanese from the late Meiji Age. This paper focuses on the analysis of these historical photos and expects to provide real and integrate grounds for today\´s Chinese cultural heritage conservation.
