Abstract
The properties of surface acoustic wave (SAW) devices make them useful in many applications for both military and commercial systems. Some applications include signal processing, frequency control, and sensors. The paper presents a concise overview of SAW-based subsystems and their application in radar and electronic warfare (EW). An emphasis is placed on oscillators, channelized filters, gain compensated delay lines, and pulse compression subsystems. Subsystem capabilities are discussed as well as the relationship between major subsystem parameters and system performance
