Abstract
The National Grid Company plc (NGC) owns and operates the high voltage transmission system in England and Wales, serving generators and suppliers who trade in the electricity market (or pool). NGC are considering the requirements for the rationalisation of power systems analysis software and for the management, validation and rationalisation of data sources for both offline and real-time analyses. This paper outlines the NGC objectives for the co-ordination of real-time and offline analyses and discusses the problems that must be considered including the extent of the real-time and offline network models, the choice of interface data formats and the development of a strategy for co-ordinated data management
