  • Abstract
    A new type of 500 kV AC voltage testing system operating at power frequency was developed by the Electric Power Research Institute and has been used for electric power apparatus for 10 years. This AC voltage testing system consists of a reactor with fixed inductances and capacitors with step-adjusted capacities. This paper provides a summary of the development of this testing system. The major features of the testing system and experience with electric power apparatus onsite tests are also described in the paper
