Abstract
Some researchers believe, based on mathematical models, that the mass of the vibration recorder can distort vibration data significantly in overhead power transmission line measurements. At least one laboratory conducted tests which confirmed that significant distortion of data can occur under worst-case conditions. Power overhead line vibration data, presented in this paper, was gathered in the field under normal operating conditions and shows that the mass of vibration recorders has no significant effect on the vibration data
