Abstract :
Thin-film electroluminescence (EL) is a display technology that has matured to a commercial level during the last few years. The present status of EL technology has been preceded by research and development which phenomenologically extends to the late 1930s and technologically to the 1960s. The driving force to the developments can be found in the inherent characteristics of thin-film EL technology; a device that combines a flat solid-state structure to outstanding viewing ergonomics. The main application areas of these displays are in the instrumentation and computer terminals
