Abstract
This paper describes the development of a 50 watt power amplifier operating in the Ku-band satellite uplink frequency range of 14-14.5 GHz. High efficiency (greater than 25%), very small size (less than 35 cubic inches) and light weight (2.3 lbs) make this amplifier an ideal choice for use in mobile satellite terminals. Details of the development effort, a description of the developed product, and test results are presented. Applications for the amplifier include high data rate communication systems, digital data links, and portable satellite terminals
