Abstract :
Poor voltage regulation is a bane on our distribution system. This paper presents a technique of finding out the optimal values of compensation factors, of series capacitors, using genetic algorithm, placed in a radial distribution system. The voltage profile, active losses and the annual savings with series capacitors on different loading conditions (peak load, nominal load and light load) are discussed. The suggested method is optimized using genetic algorithm and is programmed using MATLAB software.
