Abstract
The definition of a nonlinear phase Mth band filter in the time domain is extended from that of the linear phase Mth band filter. The corresponding contraints in the frequency domain are derived based on the proposed time-domain property. They are the general cases of the well-known linear phase conditions. An eigenfilter design method is discussed and an example is shown to demonstrate the theory. Application in a two-channel filter bank and the dyadic wavelet is also discussed.
