Abstract :
FACTS are an emerging technology that is being implemented in a number of facilities nation-wide and internationally. One of the FACTS controllers is Static Synchronous Compensator (STATCOM). Self commuted switching power converters are playing viable and vital role in power delivery in the recent era of transmission and distribution system. STATCOM is the voltage-source converter, which converts a DC input voltage into AC output voltage in order to compensate the active and reactive needed by the system. This paper will introduce an in-depth investigation of steady state performance of STATCOM with energy storage theoretically. The performance of proposed detailed model and control approach is analysed by digital simulation performed using PSIM.
